Join the Friends of the Washington DC Metro Chapter- NAASC

An exciting new way to support Spelman College-related initiatives in the Washington, DC area is now available to non-alumnae! Introducing the Friends of the Washington DC Metro Chapter-NAASC, a level of support for individuals who are not alumnae of Spelman College, but would like to support the needs of the DC Metro Chapter-NAASC as well as Spelman College. To join this initiative, an annual donation of $20 is required covering the July 1 – June 30 fiscal year.

Your annual donation puts you on the mailing list for chapter activities where you can learn about events that keep you engaged in local area Spelman activities.  Your donation supports operational and key program activities of the chapter that benefits current Spelman students and the next generation of Spelman students.

Here’s a sampling of those activities:

• Jane Hope Lyons Scholarship: $1500 scholarship awarded to one Washington, DC student selected by Spelman College

• Golden Girl Book Scholarship: Awarded to a rising Spelman freshman from the Washington, DC Area

• Loving Me Conference: A one-day gathering for girls in grades 8 – 11 to teach recognizing and appreciating their unique beauty, to build sisterhood, to use positive forms of expression, and to develop their professionalism

• New Freshman Meet and Greet: A potluck event to orient incoming DC/MD/VA Spelman College freshman and their parents/guardians about settling
